Peeping into Cockaigne

In the middle there is a chocolate tower, the Wall to Cockaigne (wood panels, coated with Nutella) surrounded by a high security fence. In the chocolate tower there are peepholes. The view through the peepholes of Cockaigne’s wall offers views to the inner sanctum. Ambivalent but also occasional glances at the Cockaigne of our longing and desires, to goods and wants, to terrible and beautiful places in the form of illuminated dioramas, miniatures and backlit pictures. These insights play with basic human categories such as needs (physical , safety, love / belonging, esteem, self-realization; spirituality); value conflicts (openness to change versus preservation of proven, selfishness vs. altruism) but also concrete manifestations of non – values and ,sins’.
